Sequent Meeting Rules:


1) Start on time.


a) Being late implies that you think you are worth more that the rest of the team. (Wookie thought)
b) If you are critical to the meeting and will be late inform the meeting organizer as to when you will be there so they can either reschedule or rearrange the meeting for productive time of the team.


2) End on time which is 5 mins before the hour or 1/2 hour as people might need to 
get to another meeting.

3) Publish an agenda and stick to it.


a) Is the meeting for information sharing or decision making
b) Include estimated time for each item
c) Scheduled meetings should have agenda published at least 8 business hours before the meeting


4) Notes, including but not limited to:


a) What was decided
b) What A/Rs - who, what, when, where and how
c) Published within 4 business hours of the meeting


5) Publish any materials 8 business hours before the meeting.


a) So no excuse to show up and start reading in the meeting (See (1)(a))
b) In other words as an attendee it is expected that you do your homework before you show up

 

6) If there is a decision to be made identify the decision maker before the meeting

 

a) Don't leave without a decision or an A/R to provide the information to enable the decision
b) Meeting attendees are expected to abide by the decision, at least disagreeing and committing.

 

7) If the meeting can be handled by email the email is best.


8) Reserve your room.


a) And if you didn't reserve the room and the people who did show up leave.

 

9) No Bozos


a) Don't insult customers, fellow employees, suppliers, partners or competitors (anybody I left out)
b) Of course this applies outside of meetings.
